This 4 days safari in Uganda and Rwanda offers visitors the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to track the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi and enjoy wildlife game drives, boat safari on Lake Ihema and birding in Akagera National Park.
Day 1. Drive to Bwindi National Park
Our driver will meet you at your hotel in Kigali and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The 4 hours journey to Bwindi will include border crossing. You’ll need an East African visa that you’ll obtain at the Kigali International Airport. On the way, you’ll have spectacular views of the terraces of the Ugandan and Rwandan mountains. This area is called the ‘Switzeland of Africa’. Arrival late in the afternoon, enjoy self walk in the nearby villages, dinner and overnight
Day 2. Mountain Gorillas trekking and return to Kigali
Early morning, get up and drive to Bwindi National Park for gorillas trekking. Trekking gorillas is among the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6hours, but it is worthy the effort. You’ll be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna in the jungle and the lifestyle of the gorillas. Stay with the gorillas 1hour, then go back to the lodge, have lunch then be transferred to Kigali. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.
Day 3: Kigali-Akagera National Park
After an early morning breakfast, our driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel, be driven to Akagera National Park. The journey to Akagera national park takes about 2.5 hours depending on the stopovers along the way. At arrival, game drive and check in at your accommodation. In the afternoon, boat ride on Lake Ihema, expect to view various aquatic wildlife species like hippos and crocodiles and many species of birds. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning game drive and return to Kigali
Have an early breakfast and drive deeper towards the north of the park for another game drive. This area has the biggest concentration of wildlife in Akagera so expect to see so many animals and beautiful scenery! After four to six hours, return to the lodge for breakfast and relax till lunch. Exit by 2.30pm and leave for Kigali. Drop off at either a hotel or airport for departure flight.
